Our Aimee Girl

This girl is the sweetest you will ever meet.

She doesn't know a stranger and makes a friend wherever she goes. Really.

She is so friendly and kind, always looking out for kids who are being bullied at school.

She is tender-hearted, easily hurt by others but tough on the soccer field ☺

My Noel Mignon "Hey Girl" project for this week features our sweet 7 year old Aimee.

Check the Noel Mignon blog for details on how I created this page as well as some close-up shots.

Have a great day!

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

For a long time before I became pregnant with this baby I am now carrying we'd been trying to have another.

We finally came to the conclusion that Aimee was going to be our last baby and I was getting used to the idea. She has been my most clingy child, refusing to stay in nursery by herself until after she was more than 2 1/2 years old- we started taking her around 17 months. She was my best nurser and always wanted to have me around. I loved that she needed me around so much and love the time we get to spend together- just us- when Hailey and Sarah are in school.

You see, when Hailey was a baby and again when Sarah was a baby I always had another on the way. This time, though, Aimee is three and will be almost 4 by the time the new baby comes.

She was a late walker and is still trying to catch up on some things; I find myself being extra-protective of her. And, if I can be completely honest, I am still trying to get used to the idea of her no longer being "the baby" in the family. She will have a hard time with that for sure.

I took this picture of her while she was taking a nap the other day, three years old and still sucking her thumb. She tries so hard to stop but that little finger keeps finding its way into her mouth when she is tired or upset. It is the sweetest thing to watch her sleep and I just knew I wanted to scrap it with this kit from My Scrapbook Nook. No, it's not the traditional Christmas page but the title makes it a bit more so.

No, this isn't my usual style but these papers from My Mind's Eye are a bit formal and I knew I couldn't do their beauty justice without a few flowers, some swirlies and pearls. It is no way as good as what some of my friends at the Nook can do but I think I made a valiant attempt.

Prima and Maya Road flowers, ZVA black swirls.

Prima flower centers; Studio Calico white Mister Huey for the snowflakes (yes, I ♥ it)
Prima pearls in the snowflake centers. I also used some of the new silver glitter thickers from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Christmas collection.

I hope you are having a great day!

happy birthday to my Aimee

It is so hard to believe that Aimee is three today.

Time goes by way too fast.

I still remember that day...it had been a difficult pregnancy because of so many complications, I had to go in for monitoring all the time and had to be really careful about everything...we had a c-section scheduled because there was no way I'd be able to have a "normal" delivery. I was nervous about having that surgery but anxious to get that little girl HERE.

Anyway, two days before my scheduled c-section I was having regular contractions so they rushed me in for an emergency c-section that day and little Aimee was born. What a sweet little girl she has always been.

One of my favorite things is her hugs and I love it when she says to me with a smile, "I love you mommy, you're so kind." I love her laugh and her craziness and the way she makes up silly songs. I love the way she drops the consonants at the beginnings of words. I love that she likes to be with me and secretly love that she needed me to be there with her in nursery at church for so long because I hated the idea of leaving her. Now she's more independent- we go to nursery and I take her to the bathroom and then she calmly says, "You can leave now, Mommy." She is growing up way too fast.

We had a little party for her last night to celebrate with the Matt's parents, his brother Grant and his wife and their son. It was a fun time with yummy cake and hula hooping and bubble blowing and fun. Aimee got a couple of really cute outfits, a Jessie doll (from Toy Story) and a fun Play-doh set that is soon going to be all over my kitchen floor and smashed into the cracks of my table where it comes apart but that's okay.

I am starting to feel like these girls are growing up too fast...thank goodness we'll have one more on the way so I can relish the baby stage one more time.

Because I just can't NOT share anything scrappy today, here are some Aimee pages from the last few years. Isn't she such a sweetheart? We sure love that little girl.

I think it's safe to say that her life will be fairly well-documented. I love this sweet girl with the crooked teeth because she still sucks on her thumb when she's upset or tired. I love her sweet face with the mark from my c-section that will probably always mar her cheek (I think they knicked her when they did my surgery) and I love her sweet little voice. I love that she puts herself in time-out when she tells me no. I love the way she hooks her little finger over the top of her nose when she has her thumb in her mouth and love her little pouty face.

Sweet Aimee girl, I hope you have a wonderful birthday.
