a new layout

Good morning!

How was your weekend? I hope that it was a nice break and that you're all rejuvenated to start a new week.

Some people think it's funny when others talk about "scrapping for themselves" versus doing team assignments. It's fun to do work for manufacturers and other teams, to get to try out their new products and I have loved the teams that I've been able to be a part of; I always scrap for myself but it's liberating to use any supplies you want without any kind of restrictions. Because I am a mom with 4 busy kids, a house and husband to take care of, I don't often get to do much more than my assignments so there isn't much time to "scrap for myself" but one day, after all of my CHA work was done, I sat down with an old kit from My Scrapbook Nook (featuring Crate Paper's Random collection) and made this page.

I love my girls but the two in this layout tend to butt heads a lot, and I mean A LOT. They used to get along so well, used to play together and have fun and laugh but now it seems that they are engaged in a screaming match more often than not. Sarah is tough but Aimee is as well and I just know that Aimee is going to outgrow Sarah before too long and Sarah is not going to like it at all.

I have to smile when I see them playing together the way they used to, having fun and not arguing over every little thing. I hope that they will be good friends again soon.

What to you do when your kids just won't get along?

I would love some suggestions!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!

just a couple of projects today

Good morning!

It's Saturday, our last soccer game of the season for our girls and a day to hopefully reclaim our house from the messy state it's in right now. I can dream, can't I?

Here are a couple of projects I have made recently:

These are pictures of Aimee and the county fair from last year. This year we didn't make it to the fair at all, times were just too busy with everything else that we had going on. It's a simple page with some embellishments from Sassafras, Making Memories and American Crafts.

I made this card using the Crate Paper Random collection featured in the September kit from My Scrapbook Nook.

Have a great day!

hello Friday!

I am so glad that Friday is here!

How  about you?

What do you have planned for the weekend?

The girls have soccer games on Saturday morning and then I plan/hope to do a whole lot of nothing!

That sounds so good to me with all of the business and running around lately.

Today I have a new scrapbook page to share created with the lovely September kit from My Scrapbook Nook:

This is about our sweet Lily and her unexpected early arrival. While it was difficult at times we are so grateful for the extra time we've gotten to spend with her.

I really like that black and white chevron striped paper with that cute Crate Paper brad!

Have a nice weekend!

sharing more Basic Grey Hello Luscious

The May kit from My Scrapbook Nook features the new collection, Hello Luscious.

I wasn't planning to scrap this picture with the kit but it's one I've had waiting around since last year and thought it would work perfectly- it's hard to believe that this picture is a year old already, one from LAST Easter. So much has happened since then. I missed Easter this year because I was in the hospital and don't have any pictures of the girls all dressed up in their new Easter clothes so this one will do for now.

I love these pink glitter alphas from American Crafts, even used some of the bits on the butterfly, flowers and on the picture of the girls. The black stickers are from October Afternoon.

Flower, large scallop border and butterfly punches from EK Success, small scallop border punches from Fiskars.

Have a great day!

quick post today and a Nook layout

Do any of you get migraines?

I do..and I've had one going on two days now. I really need to sleep it off today.

We are doing fine, Miss Lily is as cute as ever and the other girls are keeping me quite busy.

I did get a chance to do some scrapping this weekend with the beautiful May kit from My Scrapbook Nook. Here is a layout I made using some pictures of Sarah- I found her this pretty dress at Target and knew she would love it. It was her Easter dress, and since I missed Easter being stuck in a hospital bed, it was fun to see her twirl around my hospital room with her wearing this pink dress.

I added the pearls (Prima) and black alphas (October Afternoon) but the rest is from the kit.

I used a few Pioneer Woman and other PSE actions on the pics and think they turned out pretty cute.
Even more so in real life ☺ Have a nice day!

little Lily and the May Nook kit

Lily has had a good couple of days!

After all of the spitting up and then the diarrhea she lost some weight (I know that it's normal for babies to lose a bit after they're born) but now that she's keeping things down she's at 6 pounds! We weighed her tonight before her bath. Her cord finally fell off and I was able to give Lily her first tub bath and she did really well. She's going to love the water like my other girls.

Other good news- she's been taking her bottle feedings well and tonight the doctor said she can eat by mouth (instead of her NG tube) for any feedings where she's awake enough- she did two in a row tonight which is great and they've increased the amount they give her for bottle feedings.

The other girls spent the night and their Grandma and Grandpa's house (thanks, Matt) so I was able to go to the hospital tonight. They were so excited to get to stay, to have root beer floats and watch a movie and then have pancakes for breakfast in the morning. And, I was thrilled to get to go to the hospital after not being able to go this morning, and I was able to stay as long as I wanted (well, until I got too tired, anyway) since I didn't have to be back to pick up anyone at a certain time. The house sure is quiet, though, with everyone gone.

I don't know if you've seen this yet- the May kit from My Scrapbook Nook. It features the new Hello Luscious line from Basic Grey, pretty flowers from Webster's Pages, pink glitter alphas from American Crafts, trims from May Arts, etc.

silly kids

We really enjoy being able to spend time with Matt's family since some of them live so close. I wish that my girls could spend more time with my sisters' kids, too, but they all live so far away that it just doesn't happen very often.

One of Matt's brothers lives in Houston and once in a while we like to "meet in the middle" or somewhere close to that and hang out for the weekend. On this particular weekend we'd gone to Fort Worth so that Matt and Marc could go watch Jimmer play basketball. Before the game we went to the stockyards and then hung out some more while the guys were at the game.

We have three girls and they have 3 boys and it's quite a party when we get them all together.

I used some of the fun border and alpha stickers included in the kit.

I made this page using the April kit from My Scrapbook Nook featuring "For the Record" from Echo Park.

p.s. sorry for the nasty picture. I really need to take another one now that it's not so overcast and nasty outside.

sharing a Nook project

The "For the Record" collection from Echo Park was one of my favorite releases from this last CHA. I really like the ecclectic mix of patterns and knew it would be a fun one for a kit. It is more "formal" than I tend to use most of the time but I've been having fun using this kit for sure.

Here is a look at one of the layouts that I created using this collection:

Have a nice day!

and another page using Emma's Shoppe (March Nook kit)

How is your day so far?

Did you catch a glimpse of the moon last night?

It was stormy here so I missed it, but heard that it was large and beautiful.  I hope you took pics!

For today I have another Crate Paper layout to share with you:

I guess you can say that I went a bit crazy with the little label stickers on this one. I also used lots of the little accent cuts including the Mad Lib-type one for my journaling. Too fun!

I hope you are having a great day so far.

I am going to go lay down...I didn't sleep hardly at all last night and am feeling it now.
I need to crash so that I can go to church later and be functional.
Right now I'm not feeling so good.

new layout using Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe

**If you are looking for the American Crafts blog hop, please check down below.

This March kit from My Scrapbook Nook is one that I was looking forward to as soon as I found out that we'd be getting the new Emma's Shoppe from Crate Paper. It was my favorite release from this CHA besides those from the teams I work on (love my Jillibean and American Crafts!) and I couldn't wait to have it in my hands.

Here is a layout that I created for a class at the Nook using some pictures of Aimee when she was a baby.

I started out by misting the woodgrain background with Studio Calico Mister Huey in white.

I went a little crazy with the chipboard here but love the look of the frame around that picture of my baby girl. The alpha/label stickers that come with this collection are just way too fun. The pearl brads are from the My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose collection and the twine is from the Twinery.

Here's one more detail shot showing some of the journaling stickers and a MME pink flower brad included in the kit. You also get rosette trim from Webster's Pages and ribbon from American Crafts, a couple transparency frames and other things I am forgetting.

Have a great day. I'll have this class up at My Scrapbook Nook as soon as
the forum  is back up and running.

March kit from My Scrapbook Nook- Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe

This paper collection was one that I liked most from this past CHA, one that I just knew I HAD to have.

If you are a scrapper you understand what I mean.

There are lots of great collections that are released every 6 months and this is one that I knew I had to have every piece of. Another was the Blossom Soup collection from Jillibean Soup.

Is that silly?

It probably is.

Regardless I was very excited to find out that Leah was going to try and get Emma's Shoppe for us for the March kit at My Scrapbook Nook. I warned my husband ahead of time that I would probably be spending too much money on add-ons to get the bits of the collection that weren't included in the kit ♥

I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday but wanted to scrap anyway, wanted to start playing with this new collection and this is what I came up with:

(oh, I have to warn you that my Photoshop program is freaking out for some reason this morning. The sharpen tool wasn't working at all so I used one of the Pioneer Woman sharpening actions that I have and sometimes it worked and other times not. I think this computer must need a vacation so please forgive the awful quality of my pics today. Hopefully after restarting the computer I can get it to work better. Closing and restarting PSE didn't make a difference. Have any of you ever seen Photoshop wig out?)

Well, it looks like my computer is wigging out- may need to run a virus scan. At least I got this post together though it took longer than it should and the computer kept doing crazy things. I thought it was just my PSE but maybe not.

another new-ish layout

I have missed being able to visit with a lot of you at My Scrapbook Nook. The forum has been down for almost a week now due to updates- thanks to hackers who compromised the safety of the site they've decided to re-do the forum/gallery and it's taking a bit longer than they anticipated.

Anyway, because I haven't been spending as much time chatting online I've  had some time to do some scrapping for ME, just for FUN and not for an assignment. I love the teams that I design for but since I also have an ever-growing stash of supplies it's fun to pull them out once in a while, too.

Here's a page that I created with a picture of Sarah from last summer, and it uses some papers and things from Echo Park:

I will admit that in the past I shyed away from using yellow, but this page uses it in a major way- and I think it fits Sarah's sunny personality quite well. I used a green Jenni Bowlin paint dauber for the edges of the grid paper, some Maya Road yellow mist as well. The pearls are from Prima and the rest is Echo Park.

I like how the little pearls add just enough pizazz to the butterflies and flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today!

How about some March Nook kit pics?!

I have been waiting and waiting for this kit to arrive- and I'm still waiting but it shouldn't be too much longer.

The first kit right after CHA always tends to take a bit longer simply because we are waiting on manufacturers to have all of the products to us in time and again this month, that didn't happen. So, it's late but it will be well worth it. Just take a look:

So, what do you think? Well worth the wait? I hope mine gets here SO fast.
There are papers and embellishments from the BRAND NEW Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe, other embellishments from My Mind's Eye and American Crafts and Webster's Pages. So cute!
