how about a card today?

This will be a super-quick post since my 3 year old is standing here waiting for me...she's been up for an hour already and I have been trying to get her to go back to sleep since she's sick. The poor girl has been having fevers over 102 last night and this morning, a runny nose and yucky cough and she says her throat is sore. We'll be taking a trip to the doctor for her today and I have to take my first-grader in for a chest xray since she's had a nasty cough for two weeks and it's not getting any better.

Should be a fun day, along with everything else we have going on.

It's the 100th day of school so they have lots of fun activities planned for today and Hailey really doesn't want to miss out; I will see what the school nurse says since she's been on her antibiotics for a few days now.

Anyway, here is a card that I made using the February kit from the Nook once again:

When I saw the little airplane on the sheet of Webster's paper I thought of this idea for a card.
Pretty clever, right? Well, I thought so.

As with my other projects with this kit I had fun cutting and layering with this card.
That is my favorite part about using papers like these. It's so different from what I normally
use but it's nice to break out of my comfort zone once in a while.

Have a wonderful day!

some more Webster's Pages love

As I've said before, papers like these really stretch me outside of my comfort zone. I usually like the final product but I have to pace myself and really figure out what I want to do before hand. Some people are often scared of the "A" sides but I find that I use them a lot for making my own embellishments for pages as I've done on all of my projects with this February kit from My Scrapbook Nook. Here is another layout that I created:

and some details:

pearls from Creative Charms, chandelier cut from another piece of paper

I did a lot of cutting and glueing to make this background; the butterfly is from American Crafts, the journaling sprout from Jillibean Soup

This butterfly is from the Hollywood Vogue sticker sheet; I just used some foam adhesive to give it more dimension, added some brown Creative Charms pearls, Maya Road heart pins.

See? It's not so bad, is it?  I think this kit has been kinda fun. Not that I don't like these kinds of papers because I think they are extremely gorgeous, I just usually don't know where to start and don't want to mess them up.

Have a great day!

The February kit from My Scrapbook Nook

Good morning!

For today I thought I'd share with you a page that I just finished up using the February kit from My Scrapbook Nook. This kit features papers from Webster's Pages which are lovely, but not something that I use often so I feel a little bit intimidated and worry that I'll mess the page up. Some people do amazing things with those beautiful papers but I don't see myself as one of those people.

I decided to bite the bullet yesterday afternoon, pulled out my kit and created this page. Perhaps silly pictures are a bit unconventional for these pretty papers but I think it worked. What do you think?

Everything here is from the kit except for the Pink Paislee artisan frame which is from a past kit.
I took apart the peacock feather in the kit and just used this part on my page.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

quick page today

We are back from our quick trip to Amarillo- we left on Friday and stayed the night at a hotel, went swimming and played and relaxed and then went to the zoo and Cadillac Ranch today before heading back home. The girls enjoyed the zoo but it was a bit hot and humid there, thankfully the zoo wasn't that large. By the end Aimee was definitely ready to go. We stopped at Braum's for lunch and then drove over to the Cadillac Ranch, snapped a few pics and were on our way.

I have made a few quick layouts recently and I am amazed at how much more I can get done if I keep things more simple. I always like to see others do simple pages but I like to do a lot of hand cutting, inking and doodling and that stuff just takes time. Here's a Hailey page I made the other day:

This is my Hailey at swim lessons last week. I used Cosmo Cricket core'dinations cardstock for the background, some Bella Blvd patterned paper, Cosmo and American Crafts alphas, Webster's Pages trim, an SRM Sticker "little miss sunshine", a Jillibean Soup journaling sprout and a Sassafras flower to top it off.
