Looking forward to warmer weather

Hi again!

Are you starting to get a little bit of spring fever?

I sure am!

Here is a layout I created with pictures from our summer trip to Corpus Christi, TX.

We had so much fun playing in the sun and on the water.

There is so much to do there and we had such a great time.

I used a mix of Studio Calico and Crate Paper products on this one.

Have a fantastic day!

just another manic...Tuesday?

We're having a bit of a rough start to our day at home and yes, I am escaping from it all by sitting at the computer to blog this layout.

It's another that I created a while back for fun and didn't share it.

There is a mix of manufacturers on the page. I think there's some Crate Paper, Basic Grey ♥ along with some Simple Stories and Jillibean Soup. The gold tape is something that I had to put on everything for a while simply because I ♥ it. I got on the gold train a little late but it just gives things a special pop that I really like.

The stars were cut on my Silhouette machine...they'd been sitting around in a pile of things I cut thinking I'd use them right away but didn't. Do you ever do that? I find it easier to cut a bunch of things that would work on a variety of projects and save them for future use.

This page features my two youngest after their swim lesson graduation. They'd been nagging me to get cotton candy and I'd promised them that on their last day of lessons we would get them each their own. Lily's was bigger than her head, ha ha.

 Have a fantastic day!

my treasures

Some people have lots of money, a fancy house or car.

Some go on extravagant vacations, have expensive jewelry.

While I don't have what the world might consider "fancy" things I do have my family and that means the world to me.

Everybody Needs a Thneed

I consider myself a crafty person.

I love to play with paper and paint, enjoy crocheting and doing other little projects.

I, quite naturally, have tried to pass that on to my girls.

A couple of years ago I taught my two oldest how to crochet, a skill that I learned from my grandma and my mom around their ages. Sarah caught on to it and even learned how to make herself a scarf!

Here is a layout I made documenting her achievement, made with an assortment of product from Crate Paper, Studio Calico, American Crafts and others. I need to do better at keeping track of supplies but since it was just for fun and not an assignment I just grabbed things from here and there that I thought would work.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I am hoping to do some crafting and get some projects ready for the upcoming CHA trade show.

It is so nice to be crafty again ♥

more felt roses from Queen & Co.

Today I'd like to share a layout that I made for a trade show for Queen & Company using the pretty felt roses:

These roses are super-easy to use and add an elegant touch to any project.

Have a great day!

new for Noel Mignon

For my post today at Noel Mignon I pulled out an older photo of Lily in a dress that I love and paired that with the beautiful new "Tea For Two" kit.

This kit is full of beautiful papers and the fabulous mix of embellishments that Noel's kits are known for.

The Notes & Things collection is one of my favorite Crate Paper collections to date (and that is saying alot since I have been using Crate since about the time they started manufacturing their collections) and the gold bits like this phrase I used for my title is part of the reason. I hope that you aren't tired of gold accents because I don't see them going away from my projects any time soon.

One of my favorite parts of the kit is the roll of gray self-adhesive lace trim. I tend to use more twine than ribbons and trim on my projects but I made an exception this time because I LOVE it. I also used some of the chunky twine from the kit and like the mix of texture Noel put together with the lace, twine, cork and enamel shapes.

Thanks for stopping by today!

cards using Notes & Things from Crate Paper

Hello again!

I have a couple more projects to share with you using the beautiful new collection from Crate Paper called Notes & Things. In case you just really love this collection make sure to check out the Crate blog today because they are supposed to reveal a brand new Maggie Holmes collection that is sure to be gorgeous as well. I saw a sneak of it and it is just as beautiful as her collections always are.

Anyway, here are a couple of cards that I made for my article over at The Scrap Review.

The premade journaling cards, tags and stickers in this collection make it easy to create projects with lots of texture and detail. I stuck some foam adhesive under the bottom left edges of the little flower to make it stand up a bit and added some gold sequins to the pocket card.

Have a fantastic day!

Tomorrow I will have some BasicGrey projects to share that I made for the reveal of the new Vivienne and Aurora collections. You will love those papers and coordinating embellishments. They really did an amazing job creating these two new collections ♥

Notes &Things from Crate Paper

I was so excited to get to play with the new Crate Paper Notes & Things collection for an article for The Scrap Review. It is gorgeous and easy to scrap, just like Crate is known for.

Here is a layout that I created. I also made a couple of cards that I will share tomorrow.

I started out by building the page background using a few paper strips on the right and then added my favorite spray mist- Studio Calico Mister Huey in Dewey. I put together the tag accent on the left and added some chipboard frames. The big pink arrow is from one of the journaling cards.

The Notes & Things collection has such a great variety of embellishments, my favorite of which were these layered butterflies.

What do you think of the collection?

Isn't it so gorgeous?

Have a great day!

one more layout for the week

Hello again!

I have one more layout to share with you before we head off into the weekend.

Every year before Christmas I take my kids to see the Nutcracker Ballet in town. They do a magnificent job and it is a fun thing that I get to do with my girls when they are old enough to sit still for that long ☺

Last year I was able to take three of my kids and we had a wonderful time.

The ballet company here likes to switch up the performance in little ways every year so it is fun to see what they do differently from year to year.

After the performance is over the ballet company goes out to meet the audience where patrons can take pictures and get autographs. This particular year my girls were able to meet and get pictures with a lot of the dancers. This layout shows my kids with the Snow Queen.

I used lots of Crate Paper chipboard pieces and a bunch of sequins. I  have been hoarding some sequins for quite some time and haven't yet learned how to use them in a way where I really like the result. I think I may have used too many here ☺but that's okay.

The foam phrase and hearts are from the American Crafts Amy Tangerine Plus One collection and the striped tape is from Hobby Lobby. I think the gold rose print tape is from 3M and the pink striped one is from a pack I got at Target. I used some wood masking tape from ARC Crafts that I got in a welcome pack when I joined one of the Lifestyle Crafts Studio teams. The small alphas are from October Afternoon.

Have a great weekend!

featuring PinkFresh Studio wood veneer

I have one last layout to share that I created for Scrapbook Circle while I guest designed for them this month. The kit included lots of the Crate Paper Open Road collection so it was perfect for this layout about an impromptu road trip we too earlier this month. The challenge was to show off the little wood veneer triangles from PinkFresh Studio.

This is what I made:

I ended up using both sides of the veneer, as you can see here:

and here:

I apologize for not being so chatty today.
I have a horrible migraine and it is causing me to feel nauseated.
Prayers and good thoughts would be much appreciated.

Have a nice day!

mixing things up

What do you think of the new blog design/colors?

I am still trying to decide whether to leave it alone or tinker with it some more.

I did a little bit of the same the other day when I had some free time to scrap and no assignment deadline looming so I pulled out some Fancy Pants, Crate Paper and Dear Lizzy papers and went to work/play.

Here is what I made:

I really like the mix of wood and gold lately.

Perhaps that is why I took the direction I did with the new blog design.

I want something simple but clean and more classic looking.

Have a wonderful day!

crepe paper backgrounds and a cute little girl

It is interesting to see the personalities of each of my four girls develop and change over the years.

Each one is unique with different quirks, things she enjoys and things that drive her nuts.

Lily is our youngest, two and a half years old now, and she has quite a personality!

She makes me laugh so hard sometimes and makes my hair go gray during others.

Here is a layout I made about a week ago:

I used a Dear Lizzy crepe paper background, 5th and Frolic Project Life cards, Studio Calico wood hearts, Crate Paper butterfly and heart embellishments, American Crafts Thickers and twine from The Twinery.

I added a few drops of mist to the background.

Have a great day!

some fun with Crate Paper

I have really enjoyed being on the design teams I've been a part of but sometimes it is nice to put away the assignments and do something just "for fun", to dig into my stash and use things I don't get to use on a regular basis because of restrictions with assignments. Last week I pulled out some paper and things I've had for a while and had fun creating. Here is another layout that I made:

There isn't anything fancy about this page, I just used some strips of paper, border stickers and my buttefly punch.

I punched a bunch of butterflies from my 6x6 pad of Storyteller paper and mixed them up adding some little flowers from an Acorn Ave. embellishment.

Have a fantastic day!

Isn't this collection beautiful? I love it so much. I really like how it helps this picture of Lily shine and stand out on the page.

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by today.

another layout for My Creative Scrapbook

Hello again!

I have another layout to share with you that I created using the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes line featured in the main kit for My Creative Scrapbook kit club this month.

sharing some Acorn Ave.

Last week while our internet was out I had an article up at The Scrap Review where I shared some projects using Crate Paper's brand new Acorn Ave. collection. I really enjoyed working with this collection and like the fun mix of colors and patterns. I also really liked the Sassafras feel of the line. I sure miss them!

Here are the projects that I created using that line:

cute Lily girl in the tub- she LOVES taking baths and hates getting out!

and now a layout with pictures of Hailey and Sarah from their first day of school:

I cut the circles on my Silhouette Cameo and filled them with circles I punched with my Fiskars circle punch. The title was done with my Cameo as well. LOVE those Crate woodgrain chipboard alphas.

and last but not least, a card:

I really appreciate you for stopping by today and would love to have some comments to hear what you are up to.

Have a great day!

lots of Lifestyle Crafts projects

Good morning!

Today I have a bunch of projects to share using some of the brand new dies from Lifestyle Crafts.  Take a look around the site and if you see something you like you can use the code SCRAPPIN to get 20% off your order. Pretty good deal, huh?

First up, a Halloween card using the new web/spider die:

This card uses the new feather die:

This next layout uses the doily die, doily rosette die and border die.

And last of all, my favorite because of the cute pinwheel flower die

Aren't those fun? I think I'll be using this one a lot.

Have a wonderful day!
