mixing things up

What do you think of the new blog design/colors?

I am still trying to decide whether to leave it alone or tinker with it some more.

I did a little bit of the same the other day when I had some free time to scrap and no assignment deadline looming so I pulled out some Fancy Pants, Crate Paper and Dear Lizzy papers and went to work/play.

Here is what I made:

I really like the mix of wood and gold lately.

Perhaps that is why I took the direction I did with the new blog design.

I want something simple but clean and more classic looking.

Have a wonderful day!

Little Miss Sassy Pants

This little girl is going to be three years old on Sunday!

It's so hard to believe that she is so old already.

She is a miracle girl, such a beloved part of our family, the queen of the household, to tell the truth.

She is almost three going on thirteen.

She makes me laugh and want to scream all in the same day.

ha ha.

I love her spunk.

I took a break this week to scrap something just for fun. I felt like I was stuck in a rut and just wanted to play with some of my supplies without doing it for an assignment, without having a certain group of things I had to choose from. So, I pulled out the new American Crafts Amy Tangerine Plus One collection, the new Dear Lizzy and lots of fun Thickers. The result is the above ☺

I added some fun rub-on stars by my title and a sun at the top right of the page.

We went to the Ranching Heritage Center one day while the kids were off of school and I caught Lily making this face and laughed. I knew it would make a great topic for a page and it was fun to catch a little bit of her personality.

Have a great weekend!

another Project Life card layout and reminder

How many of you are glad it's almost the weekend?

I sure am, and we don't have any big plans so we can stay home and relax and recuperate from the stomach bug that is going through the house.

Yesterday I shared with you a page that I made using Project Life-style cards and I have another one for today.

I used some of the new My Mind's Eye pocket page cards, stickers from My Mind's Eye ("you rock") ( Jillibean Soup ("you"), October Afternoon ("are") and Heidi Swapp ("fabulous", hearts, stars, arrows). The wood heart is from Dear Lizzy.

I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist on the background and mixed some Heidi Swapp star stickers in.

For those who "collect" pocket page cards, using them on traditional layouts is a great way to keep them from taking up too much room in your scrap supply ☺

If you would like to win a mixed selection of cards please scroll down to the post just below and leave a comment. I will choose a winner on Monday and will send you some from my ever-growing stash.

Have a great weekend!

a card for today

**leave a comment in the PageMaps U Card class post below for your chance to win a spot in the class***

It is Friday and I am so glad!

I think that I need a vacation to somewhere nice and warm ☺

Yesterday I shared with you a layout that I created using the Lifestyle Crafts butterfly punch and adhesive vellum and cork. I used some of the extra butterflies to create this card:

The tags are from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic collection and the pearls are from Queen & Co. As I do on many of my projects, I added a few staples here and there with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher. The "hello" was cut from paper from Fancy Pants.

What are your plans for the weekend?

I hope that it's a great one for you.

crepe paper backgrounds and a cute little girl

It is interesting to see the personalities of each of my four girls develop and change over the years.

Each one is unique with different quirks, things she enjoys and things that drive her nuts.

Lily is our youngest, two and a half years old now, and she has quite a personality!

She makes me laugh so hard sometimes and makes my hair go gray during others.

Here is a layout I made about a week ago:

I used a Dear Lizzy crepe paper background, 5th and Frolic Project Life cards, Studio Calico wood hearts, Crate Paper butterfly and heart embellishments, American Crafts Thickers and twine from The Twinery.

I added a few drops of mist to the background.

Have a great day!

just for fun *new layout

Well, we survived our adoption homestudy this past weekend and now there is just a little bit more for us to do before all we can do is wait and wait and wait some more.

With the looming home visit over I took a break from everything yesterday and did some scrapbooking and it was so nice to sit down and play. I haven't had many assignments to do lately since I've paired things down so I just pulled out some things that I wanted to play with and created this:

Created using some Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party and My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste. I used Heidi Swapp mists and a little glitter star cut file from Studio Calico, a mix of alphas for the 9s- American Crafts and Sassafras- a butterfly left over from the banner I made for Hailey's party, hearts are from MME except for the large one which I cut from a Dear Lizzy Project Life card. The tape is MME as are the epoxy dots.

For Hailey's 9th birthday she invited a bunch of friends over for an art party. We had canvases and lots of paint, they got to decorate their aprons and we had so much yummy, colorful food. I hanged paper globes from the ceiling in the kitchen and dipped rice krispy treats in colored white chocolate. It was so much fun. This picture is of the girls after the painting was done. They did a fantastic job!

Thanks for stopping by today!

I am going to try and scrap a bit more now...we'll see how it goes.

I have to mail a big packet of paperwork to the adoption agency and that will start the ball rolling so that we can get our referral. That could be anywhere from 6-18 months. It is quite a rollercoaster.

I'll keep you posted!

It's August ♥ and a new page for American Crafts

Can you believe that it is already August the 1st?

Summer is flying by so quickly and in just a few short weeks the kids will be back in school.

There were a few things that the kids wanted to do this summer and one of them was the Summer reading program at our local library. The girls (Hailey and Sarah) set out to read as many books as they could so we spent lots of time going back and forth at the library as well as lots of lazy days reading.

Their time and efforts paid off because both girls were in the top 30 out of about 200 kids grades K-8. Hailey came in 9th place and 2nd place for the 4th graders. Sarah ended up reading about 3700 pages while Hailey read almost 9,000. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

I wanted to document this fun part of their summer, their adventures in reading, so I created this layout featuring my oldest daughter engrossed in one of her books:

I used the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection, some gold alphas from the 5th and Frolic line, butterflies and "hello" cut on my Silhouette Cameo.

Don't forget to leave a comment in the post below for a chance at my scrappy giveaway.

another Lucky Charm page

Hi!

Is it nice and warm where you live?

It was about 90 degrees the other day here and this morning we woke up to snow!

Such a crazy Spring this year!

Today I have another layout to share that I created using the gorgeous new Lucky Charm collection from Dear Lizzy/American Crafts. If you want a collection that has lots of navy blue, this is the one. It was perfect for scrapping these pics of Lily in her navy and white striped shirt.

I love that while there are lots of colorful papers there also some that are great for backgrounds. As someone who uses patterned paper more than cardstock for backgrounds this is perfect for me.

The little jars are so cute!

Have a wonderful, warm day! ♥

trying to catch up and some new Dear Lizzy

Hi!

Remember me?

I apologize for not being a very good blogger lately.

I've been sick, two of my kids have been sick and the last two days the kids have been out of school on snow days.

We live in west Texas where we don't often get a lot of snow. This weekend, though, we got quite a bit and had blizzard conditions. The roads were too snowy/icy yesterday so school was cancelled. It warmed up just a bit during the day so the roads got slushy and now they're a frozen icy mess. We were supposed to have a 2-hour delay for the start of school but because the roads out in our area aren't ploughed yet they are still pretty hazardous. Hopefully by tomorrow the kids will be back to school.

Not that I mind having the kids home but they have been fighting a lot and that just wears me out. We have gotten to do some fun things and are just trying to enjoy our time stuck at home. The kids have been drawing and playing with Play Doh, doing gymnastics at home (class/practices were cancelled), reading, playing in the snow and I have been doing my best to keep my sanity with all four- including two being sick-at home and my husband at work all day.

I was able to get a little bit of scrapping done and have a new layout to share that I created using the new Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm line from American Crafts.

This collection is such a fun mix of patterns and colors, don't you think?

I thought the little roses were so cute!

I cut the little chevron pieces from patterned paper and used foam adhesive to make them stand up. The die cut was made on my Silhouette Cameo.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

two little monkeys

I love that my kids are active.

Granted, sometimes it wears me out but it's fun to watch them learn to do new things. I love that they enjoy gymnastics and flipping around the bars.

When we were in San Angelo for a gymnastics meet on Aimee's birthday we found a fun park for the kids to play at and one of the first things they ran for was the monkey bars:

(created using the new 5th and Frolic line from Dear Lizzy by American Crafts)

Have a great day!
