a couple more cards

The sky cleared for a few minutes, long enough at least, to get some pictures of these other two cards. It has been raining almost nonstop today and I LOVE it.

The first one is quite simple and uses papers from Cherry Arte, courtesy of the July kit from AC Bailey. I especially love that cute charcoal pinstriped paper :) Add some tiny alphas, button and flower from Making Memories and some twine and call it good!

This second one features stamps and June Bug paper from Basic Grey. I colored in the images (not a pro at this at all, and I don't know any fancy techniques yet) and I added some bling for the eyes- Kaiser Craft pearls for the boy and Hero Arts blue rhinestones for the girl. I also added some Crystal Stickles glitter glue to the little heart.

Aren't they such a cute little couple?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your day!!

May AC Bailey projects

It was so fun to work with October Afternoon this month. Sure, the Daydream set is a little older but so fun and something I hadn't really used before except for a couple of pieces of the paper. For these projects I used the Daydream patterned paper, die-cuts, journaling spots and rubber charms along with American Crafts Thickers and Flair.

This card was made using a recent sketch from the October Afternoon blog. It's a 4 x 5 1/2 card and quite simple to make. Just cut a piece of Daydream paper slightly smaller than your card front add a strip of coordinating paper and some trim, add a sentiment and an embellishment and you're done!
This layout includes pictures of Matt and Hailey during some down time on our recent Disneyland trip. We'd checked in to the hotel and were getting settled and meanwhile these two had some bonding time listening to Disney Princess music on Matt's iPod.

Now this page, of course, had to be done. This is Hailey right before our Disney trip, the day she decided to cut her own hair. Some of you may remember when I blogged about this. We were shocked at the amount of hair she'd cut off, but were grateful it was Saturday, not Monday when we had to leave, and grateful for a hair salon closeby.

I hope y'all are having a fabulous day. You'll have to stop by the AC Bailey store at http://www.acbaileydesigns.net/ to check out all of the great new products there. Soon to arrive is the new Cherry Hill collection from October Afternoon!

kind of a blue day

I think that we all have days like this...days when we're just kind of sad because of something going on in our lives.

Today I am sad because there will be a big change coming up in my life soon...not life-changing in a huge way but I'm having to give up something that I've been doing more than a year and because of it I feel sad. I think it will be great for many people involved and I wish them all the luck in the world. I don't know how much I can say...not that my blog readership is that big...the news isn't really out besides general info to the consultants but there will be some changes-good ones for the consultants who work for AC Bailey- changes to the design team member requirements that won't allow me to stay on the team. Makes me sad, but it's something I can't commit to with other things I have going on in my life. There...I'll have to leave the team and it makes me sad...There may be a new design team call, I am not yet sure, and those of you who are consultants for the company or would like to become so (it is a direct-sales company that sells awesome scrap supplies from companies we all love like October Afternoon, Bo Bunny, American Crafts, Cosmo Cricket, etc. and has a great kit club as well) you'll have to check it out! It's been a fabulous company to do work for.

I know that when one door closes another one opens for us eventually and I hope that's the case. Being on the AC Bailey design team has been such a pleasure for me, wonderful because of all the people I've met, wonderful because of the other ladies on the team who have become my friends, wonderful because of our great boss and owner of AC Bailey, Erica. It's been more than I could have asked for in a design team experience and I am sad today thinking about it, thinking about no longer being on the team.

Ok, enough whining from me...I will bow out gracefully and accept things as they are and wish everyone the very best. I still have a little bit longer before I really have to get weepy and just move on with other things.

Thanks for enduring my weepiness...just one of those days...I'll go eat some chocolate and watch some old episodes of "The Gilmore Girls" and all will be well. Or, maybe I'll go work on one of my scrappy projects that I need to get done.

Have a great day. Stay tuned for my May AC Bailey projects that I'll post today as well.

AC Bailey May kit layout

As you were able to see in my National Scrapbook Day post, the May AC Bailey kit is just gorgeous!! It features papers from Marks Paper and some fun embellishments from Chatterbox and Prima.

Here is Hailey all dressed in her wedding garb, remarkably enough, it was made out of toilet paper. Remember my post about that? Here is a layout about that experience, finally.

This paper was just begging to be cut! So, I cut out some flowers and the scalloped shape, added some doodling and Stickles glitter glue and curved the flowers' edges up a little to make them stand out more.

Keep watching because I will have more projects to share with you made from this kit.

AC Bailey National Scrapbook Day Blog Hop Stop

Good morning and welcome to your first stop in the AC Bailey Blog Hop!
Just to tell you a little bit about myself: I am Becky Williams, known as beckyjune online, and I have been a member of the AC Bailey design team since March of 2008. I found the site thanks to the design team search, checked out the site for a while and came to love the products offered. (Just for a little info you might not know, AC Bailey is a direct sales scrapbooking company like others out there but we also have an online community/gallery and store where ANYONE can shop.) It’s a small but growing community and one of the friendliest on the web. AC Bailey owner, Erica Gerhart, has been wonderful to work with, both as a design team member and a customer at her store. She is always willing to listen to suggestions for new products and puts together a great scrapbooking kit each month. One of my favorite products in the store right now is the Bungle Jungle collection from Sassafras Lass.

Speaking of scrapbooking kits! The AC Bailey Goodies KOTM (kit of the month) are full of the latest and greatest scrapbooking supplies on the market. The May Goodies kit, for example, which is pictured above, features products from Marks Paper Company, Chatterbox and Prima to name a few. And, did you know? The winner of our blog hop this weekend will win this May kit!

All you have to do for a chance to win is to follow the blog chain, checking in at each one (with a chance to win a prize at each stop if you leave a comment), then choose 3 of the techniques you’ve seen on the AC Bailey design team member blogs today and use those to create a layout. Post this layout to the gallery “NSD 2009” folder and let us know which techniques you used. It’s that simple!! YOU could be the winner of that fabulous May Goodies KOTM.

Now for my technique…

Some of you might remember the ribbon flowers on one of my layouts from a month or so ago. They are quite easy to make and add lots of pizzazz to layouts and cards. Today I am going to show you step by step how you can make your own!

1. Gather supplies: scissors, thread and needle; wide ribbon, lace or other trim

2. Cut ribbon to 6-8" length depending on desired fulness of completed flower. You can play around with this and see what you like best.

3. Stitch along the edge and then gather into a circle by pulling on the thread.

4. Bring two ends together and stitch down seam on wrong side, finish off with a knot and cut thread. Top with a brad, button or other embellishment if desired. You can also make flowers of different sizes and layer them.

Sound easy enough? Well, it is. Now go and make some of your own. If you have any questions post a comment here on my blog and I’ll try and answer it for you.

Now for your next stop…check out Dee’s blog at http://scrappingram.blogspot.com/

Oh, and make sure to leave a comment here on this post so that you can be eligible for another prize. I can’t tell you what it is, but it WILL be a good one!!!

Have a great day and happy scrapping!! You have until midnight EST Sunday to complete and post your layout to the AC Bailey NSD 2009 gallery folder.
