love helps our family bloom

For one of our big challenges this week in the My Scrapbook Nook Scrap-Off we have to create a layout where the picture was some kind of shape- no squares, no rectangles. And, the clincher...if we decided to play we would have to risk losing some points. You see, the top 5 favorite pages would get 15 points, the next 5 get nothing and the rest lose 5 points. So, I am guessing that some people might choose to not participate for fear of losing points, but I NEED the points this week since I missed the blog hop while I was in Colorado, and I will risk losing 5 points for the chance of getting 15.

So, I stewed over this challenge, wanting to do something creative, something that would earn me those extra points I NEED. I hope I get them. I guess we'll see after tomorrow.

I created this flower layout by tracing around a small plate and then drew the petals free-hand. I cut out the template, used it to cut out my wallet-sized pictures and then matted those on some patterned paper. I used the Scenic Route Garden Grove collection for this, by the way, in case anyone wants to know. I also used some Sassafras Lass flowers and trims from Webster's Pages and Creative Imaginations. I added some Stickles glitter glue on the Basic Grey chipboard and around the flower petals as well. Oh, I used my pinking edge scissors on the striped ruffle, too.

Wish me luck!!! I'd love to make it to the next round but only 10 will move on. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please!!
