Jillibean Soup puts a Texas-sized smile on my face

It's no secret that I love Jillibean Soup and that I am not-so-patiently waiting for the new design team list to be posted. I liked the new releases so much this time that I've bought 3 of the paper collections along with some of the extras like corrugated alphas and the canvas flowers. If I wish really hard maybe soon I'll have lots of FREE Jillibean Soup stuff coming my way. I can dream, right?

Everyone has heard the saying, "Everything is bigger in Texas," right? Well, I'll say I've got a Texas-sized love of Jillibean Soup and a Texas-sized love of my girls. I was listening to country radio the other day while I was alone in the car and a song came on with the lyrics "put a Texas smile on your face" and I knew those words would be perfect for a layout title. So, here ya go!

These are some pictures of Hailey the day after Christmas last year. We were getting ready to go have dinner at my brother and sister-in-laws' house and Hailey was riding in Aimee's little toy car that Santa brought for her (that's the yellow in the big pic) and she had her brand new sweater on and her blue sparkly headband (which she has since traded with Aimee for the purple one) and it was the perfect opportunity for some practice with my new 50mm lens that Matt got me for Christmas, and here are some of those pics.

First off, I thought I'd show you this cute little flower I made. These little spiral flowers are quite trendy right now but I'd never tried them myself. I think they add a fun little handmade touch to the page. The leaves were just free-hand on some kraft cardstock and I inked the edges. The flower with the alpha print is one of the new canvas flowers, as are the green ones on this layout. I LOVE them. They're self-adhesive and adorable. I added a little more dimension by bending up the petals.

The new sticker sheets include some little alpha stickers- you can see them here as part of my title. I inked the edges to help them stand out from the background better, and there's one of those cute little journaling sprouts that I like so much. I wanted to use some of that argyle-print paper on this page and decided to cut the edges as you see here, and what remained were these little triangles that I ended up using for the banner at the top of the page. Yes, I have joined the banner-making craze. I made a paper ruffle from the blue paper (it's the outside edge of the reverse side of the blue floral paper) and added some inking and faux stitching with my Sharpie pen. I also outlined my the red alphas to help them stand out more from the background.

So there you have it. I now have to spend some time on top-secret SRM projects that are due this month. Well, not so top-secret since Jen mentioned on the SRM blog that we'd be teaming up with Cosmo Cricket for some projects this month. I got some fun free stuff that I am anxious to start playing with.

Have a wonderful day!
