As you know I have the flu- the rotten, miserable, make-you-feel-horrible all over flu.
I was up at 3 this morning because I was starving so I got up to get something to eat and when I went to wash my hands there was...nothing. In the entire house. No water. Our pipes are frozen. We'd used the hose in the backyard the other day (when it was warmer than 60 degrees and now it's like 4 degrees or something) to clean bird mess off of the patio. The birds like to come visit us (because I was nice enough to leave birdseed for them) but they leave a horrific mess all over the place. I thought that since it was a nice day I'd try to clean it off. Well, we forgot to unhook the hose and that is probably what caused the frozen pipe issue. Funny thing is, the Bishop at church asked Matt the other day if he knew of anyone who was in need of help due to the cold weather, frozen pipes, etc.
We didn't think we'd be the ones needing help.
Matt called and set up an appointment for a plumber to come over and help fix the problem so that we could have water again. I was going to take Hailey to school so we went out to the garage as always and got into the van, opened the garage door, did our seatbelts and were ready to go...or so I thought. I started backing out and heard a loud noise and thought, "What in the world?" or something similar but maybe not in such nice words. I got out of the car and was shocked to see that I'd ran into the garage door because it didn't open all the way. Dang cold weather must have frozen the chain or something because it didn't open all the way. Now the door is off the track and busted, and the little wing on the back of the van is broken off.
What a cruddy day. Or whatever other word you'd like to use to describe it but not a good word.
yikes.
How much money is this going to set us back? I have no idea but it's going to be a lot.
And, Matt's dad goes in for a heart procedure today, too. I hope that goes better than my morning has so far.
I hope nothing else happens because I just might lose it. Seriously.
I hope that you are having a much better day.
p.s. I am sorry that this isn't a happy post. Unfortunately some days are just like that.
...even in Australia. (From Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very-Bad Day). I know that Australia isn't having a very good day, either, and hope that my Australian friends are protected during this storm.

Hugs Becky!!!! And what--I didn't know about the heart procedure!! Going to have to call and see whats going on!
Sorry to hear about your bad day, Becky. Tomorrow is a new one and I hope it will be a better one. Hang in there, dear!
I hope your day improves...wish I could send you some of our beautiful sunshine. It's going to be back to normal (rain) soon, I'm sure. We love you, even when you have a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day - I love that book!
Is there anything I can do to help? I feel so bad for you. I am so sorry about everything!
We have had to deal with the garage door issues and luckily they are not as expensive as you might think unless you have to replace the whole door. Which it doesn't really sound like you will have to do. The car might be a problem. And the pipes might be a problem. But only if they crack. Fingers crossed that they don't do THAT. let me know if you want to talk. Sounds like you are having a crazy day so i won't call today. Maybe tomorrow will be better for you.
so sorry to hear that your day has been that horrific... I hope tomorrow brings sunlight and happiness to you..
