I was not completely happy with the first October Nook kit layout that I created and shared with you the other day but I think I figured out one of the reasons why. I used to use cardstock for my page bases but the last while I have been using strictly patterned paper as a foundation. For the "I'm No Domestic Goddess" page I used some kraft cardstock as a base and I think it washed out the rest of the page. WAY too much brown. I'm wishing I'd used the black plaid instead but at least I know now what it was that was bothering me most about that page.
This October Nook kit layout is a pretty simple one with some layering and doodling but I dressed up the Graphic 45 alphas with some foam adhesive and Glossy Accents to make them pop! Everything on this page is from the main kit. It is seriously so packed with product that I will have tons of embellishments left over even after the paper is long gone.
I used a tag, clip and little gold birdie from the package of Making Memories Vintage Findings included in the kit and simply added some doodling to the tag and some Stickles glitter glue to the bird. Oh, I used a Fiskars border punch on the red gingham as well and the black paper that I used to mat the tag is actually part of the reverse side of the die-cut tag sheet.
In between sessions of calming my grumpy girl I was able to make a card as well. I just loved this little bird tag from the Vintage Findings embellishments. The brown suede trim was a kit add-on and the Maya Road pins were from a previous Nook kit.
Thanks for taking time to stop by my blog today. I hope that you and your family are well. It seems that swine flu is going around like crazy here lately and I only hope my family and those close to us are spared from the worst. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
