Are your kids back in school now and you have some extra time to scrap?

Could you use a little scrappy inspiration to get that mojo flowing?

Well, I have just the thing for you:

We'd love to have more people to join us and have you heard? Along with other prizes that will be given away one winner will receive a 6 month subscription to the kit club. That's right! 6 MONTHS! In order to get you more excited and have more people join us I thought I'd do a little giveaway. I'll put together a bunch of fun scrappy things for the winner, just what I'm not sure yet but it will be a great prize.

All you have to do is head on over to the Nook and sign up for the contest and participate in what you can.
Leave me a comment here to let me know you've signed up and I'll enter you for my giveaway.

Would you like another chance to win my scrappy prize? Simply head on over to the Nook and sign up for the newsletter, filled each month with fun scrappy projects, Nook news and great deals. After you sign up leave me a comment here to tell me you've done it and I'll enter your name in my drawing a second time.

How about this? If you invite one of your friends to sign up for the challenge I'll give you another chance to win, just leave me a comment here telling me the name of your friend. If you get them to sign up for the newsletter leave me a comment about that, too. That gives you LOTS of chances to win.

How does that sound?

Jillibean layout to share

Here she is, our little Aimee. She is quite the ray of sunshine at our house because of her sweet personality and funny ways. Yep, we love her a lot. It's hard to watch her growing up and changing so much lately and hard to believe that she'll be three years old in just a short time. Because I don't know if we'll be able to have any more kids I am trying to enjoy this little stage as much as I can and because I can't slow down time I am taking lots and lots of pictures.

This page was made using the new Pasta Fagioli collection from Jillibean Soup.

Hailey's first day and a Creative Charms reminder

It's hard to believe that it's back to school time already. Just when we thought the summer would last forever it's now the second day of school.

The first day of school last year was exciting, sad but a big step that Hailey was ready for. Yesterday she was nervous, she'd had a hard time sleeping the night before and was so nervous that Matt had to help her with her breakfast Monday morning before heading off to school. I think that part of it was because she had a new teacher and change is hard for her. I think another part of it was because her good friend, Landon, who lives across the street from us, wouldn't be in her class this year. She's a bit shy but once she gets warmed up a bit she'll be fine.

Here is a picture of her from yesterday. We got some pics of her before school- alone and with her sisters and her friend, Landon.

Overall she had a great first day, she's excited about the new "specials" classes and got to see a lot of old friends from last year's class during their playtime on the BIG playground.

p.s. just a reminder about the August Deal of the Month at Creative Charms. You have about a week to get in on this deal, available in pink or blue.

Here is a sneak of next month's deal that is up on the Creative Charms blog today:

Super cute, huh? You can take a look at the other products at the Creative Charms site:

playing with Lily Bee some more

The July kit from My Scrapbook Nook featuring Lily Bee's "Hello Sunshine" collection has been one of my very favorite kits so far. I like it so much that I decided to pull it out again the other day to scrap these pictures of Sarah playing in the water in our driveway. She sure loves to jump in puddles and since there weren't any that day she decided to make her own. She even laid down in the water and pretended she was "surfing." Silly little girl.

I used the Hello Sunshine rub-ons in a couple of spots, used some Maya Mist, some Hambly stitch rub-ons and some alphas from American Crafts. The journal card (included in the kit)  is from Jenni Bowlin and the flower punch is the large retro flower punch from EK Success.

I added some doodling to the page and flowers with my black Sharpie.

Aren't those die-cuts so fun? LOVE them, and the cute little chipboard buttons, too.

and a little staple detail on one of the green American Crafts Thickers.

Have a great day!

p.s. this is a Friday Fave over at Lily Bee!

Pixielicious!

It was so fun to share my Cosmo Cricket Togetherness project with you and today I have a Pixielicious card to share with you.

Heres is the sketch that Jen Pohl, our design team coordinator and card maker extraordinaire, created:

And here is my take on her sketch using the cute Pixielicious collection from Cosmo Cricket.

SRM Stickers Express Yourself #42040 Everyday Boy

This is such a cute collection with its butterflies and fairies- I still have some Disneyland pictures from a year ago that I need to scrap and this paper will be perfect!

more fun with Cosmo Cricket Togetherness

One of the best parts about being on the team at SRM Stickers (besides getting all of those fun stickers!) is being able to work with fun, FREE product from some of SRM's friends like Cosmo Cricket.

I was so excited to find out that we were going to receive some of Cosmo Cricket's new CHA release and was even more anxious as I found out that we'd get two collections. WE all received the Togetherness collection, one of my favorites from this CHA release, and Pixielicious as well.

Thank you SRM and Cosmo Cricket!

Today we are all featuring the Togetherness collection so make sure and check things out on the SRM blog to see everyone's work and then check the individual blogs for more detailed pictures. You will find the links for these on the right side of my blog. On Friday we'll be showing off what we did with the other collection we received.

First off, here's the layout I created using the Togetherness Papercrafting Kit.

I used SRM Stickers from the new Everyday Girl collection- so fun!

One of my favorite techniques in scrapbooking is hand cutting elements from patterned paper to use as embellishments. I made everything you see on this page from the Togetherness Papercrafting kit though you might wonder if I had more than that. With a little bit of time and some careful cutting you can have some great embellishments to enhance your page even if you didn't buy any of the other embellishments from the collection. You can see a few examples of this in the following photos.

I added some dimension to the red polka dot bird with some foam adhesive.

I cut out and added some doodling around the edges of the clouds and then popped one up with foam adhesive again. For the butterflies I simply put adhesive right in the center so that I could bend up the wings a bit and give a sense of motion. It also adds more dimension to the page than if I'd just glued it down flat.

Aren't those little pinwheels cute? I cut them from one of the journaling cards and added a brad to the center.

If you take a look at the sentiment that runs across the group of pictures you will see that all of the wording is in black. Originally one of the "watch me" parts was in green, but in order to make it stand out more over the top of my picture I simply cut the same phrase from another sticker sheet and layered it on top and voila!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Check back tomorrow for more with Cosmo Cricket and a great new card sketch from Jen.

p.s. Make sure to stop by the SRM blog for a chance to win some Cosmo and SRM Stickers!

mixing things up

I really like the soft florals and other patterns in the Indie Girl line from Sassafras and thought it would be fun to mix that up with some brighter, bolder patterns from some My Little Shoebox paper and here is the result:

I used the Sassafras as the base and then cut out lots of flowers, the bird, clouds and fence from the MLS paper, used a Sass journal spot and some alphas from Sassafras and American Crafts. The clear sentiment stickers are all from SRM Stickers. Aren't they fun?

The little "sunshine" button is Flair from American Crafts.

I hope that you're having a great day.

Again, a reminder to leave a comment on the giveaway post below for your chance to win.

Hey, guess what? Me and some of the other Scrapbook Nook ladies are on the Sassafras blog!

happy birthday to Hailey and a couple of projects

Yes, it's my oldest daughter's birthday today! She's turning 6 today and will head off to first grade in less than a week. She will probably always be the youngest in her class but she was so ready to begin school, so smart and is doing SO well with her reading and other things.

Happy birthday sweet Hailey. We love you so very much

Right now Hailey loves to:
*draw pictures of princesses and mermaids and flowers and anything else she sets her mind to
*sing Primary songs and those from Barbie movies and shows she watches on Nick Jr. (the Backyardigans, Wonder Pets and Dora) as well as songs she makes up herself
*do gymnastics and is excited to play soccer in the fall
*putting together outfits with her dress-up clothes (dresses with necklaces and other accessories)
*make books out of scrap paper which she fills with drawings and stories she makes up
*playing on the swings and monkey bars
*cheesy noodles and pickles and nectarines and cinnamon rolls- not all together, of course.
*playing with her puppy, Bella

In honor of Hailey's birthday I also have a layout to share, a page that was done for SRM Stickers that will be shown on their blog today, too. This page was created using a mix of Sassafras products, lots of SRM Stickers and some pictures of Hailey from her first day of kindergarten last year. It was quite an emotional day for us and I was so nervous about leaving her there at school and worrying about whether or not she was okay.

I did lots of hand cut work on this page, as you can see, layering the pieces here and there on the page.
SRM Stickers: Express Yourself #42020 School
Say it With Stickers #40035 Kindergarten
Live Life #49003

We are celebrating today by having cinnamon rolls and fruit for breakfast, going out to lunch and then going the Nickelodeon Storytime Live show that's in town today- just the perfect timing for a birthday outing. We'll get to see all of the girls' favorite characters from Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, Ni Hao Kai Lan and Dora. It should be quite a fun time for everyone.

Today I also have a project to share with you using items from Creative Charms. I am doing a 3-month stint on the CC design team and it's been fun to get to play with all of the cute embellishments.

I used papers from My Mind's Eye, Making Memories, Creative Imaginations and DreamStreet.
Journal spot: My Mind's Eye
Alphas: American Crafts, October Afternoon
Flowers (velvet and braided flowers) and bling from Creative Charms

I used one of the blue flowers from August's deal of the month only I took the sequined center off and used the flower to layer with one of the orange braided flowers and used the sequins as accents on the page.

I also created a card for Creative Charms this month which I'll share with you tomorrow. You can see more projects made with Creative Charms embellishments on their blog here:

Check back on my blog later this week for a feature with SRM Stickers and new Cosmo Cricket as well.

Don't forget to leave a comment on my giveaway post down below for your chance to win.

good Monday morning!

This time next week I'll be coming  home from dropping my oldest off at school. It's so hard to believe that the summer is just about over but we are ready, the girls are anxious and it's time. We love having the girls home together but now it's time to move on. It's been a great summer of travels and fun and sunshine and swings, reading books (did I tell you that Hailey got third place in the summer reading program at our local library and she's only 5!) and drawing and painting and having lots of fun.

I've had time to scrap a bit, time to talk to friends and family and time to relax and time to play with the puppy.

I've had lots of great scrappy news and in case you haven't already, check out the giveaway post- simply leave a comment and I'll choose a random winner for a fun scrappy prize:

All you have to do is leave a comment here and tell me what your favorite scrapbooking products or companies are and that's it!

and some more news

Okay, just so you know, when I applied for these manufacturer teams I didn't think I'd get on even one. That's just my luck. I don't usually get picked, I'm like the last person chosen for dodgeball because that's just me. I am always happy to congratulate everyone else and I have definitely gotten lots more no's than yes's when applying for different teams, and that's okay because I've loved the teams I've been a part of.

But, to get onto the American Crafts team- blew me away and it still doesn't seem real- and then to get the guest spot at Lily Bee with Kim Watson- and to be back on the Nook team and now this...well, I my head is spinning.

I didn't even know about this one until my sister-in-law, Ginger, called this morning to congratulate me and I had no idea what she was talking about. Is this crazy or what?

Our returning team members:
Juliana Michaels
Patti Milazzo

Congrats to all of the girls who made the team. It looks like I am going to be a very busy girl. I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment but I'm just going to have fun and enjoy the ride while it lasts. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen to me.

and one more Sassafras page...for now anyway

I have really liked working with the August kit from My Scrapbook Nook featuring Sassafras' Indie Girl line.

These pictures of my oldest daughter are some that I've been wanting to scrap for a long time, well, since May anyway, and I think this kit was what I was waiting for ♥

and a detail shot so that you can see the doodling and part of  the journaling.

Have a great day!

This is going to be a gorgeous kit! I simply can't wait.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

how about some more Sassafras?

I have been fighting with my computer today so that I could get some images off of my camera and post some new-ish layouts for you to see.

I have done a few more pages with the August kit from My Scrapbook Nook so I'll share one of those with you today. These pictures were taken while we were on our big road trip this summer. We'd been to northern Texas, to Colorado and Utah and Idaho and also Washington and we were on our way back home to Texas when we decided to take a little detour through Moab, Utah to go to Arches National Park. At first the girls thought the rock formations were really cool but before long they were ready to get out of there. These pictures were taken from one of the viewpoints of Delicate Arch. We opted to see it from afar since a 2 hour hike in the blazing heat with three little kids didn't sound very appealing. This is Hailey resting at the viewpoint. Silly girl.

I really like the look of the Sassafras Indie Girl collection on kraft!

The Sweet Treats stickers are so fun to layer! I added some Bo Bunny bling to the flowers.

LOVE the border strips on the Sassafras papers, too.

I hope you're having a great week. There are exciting things going on right now at My Scrapbook Nook. The design team call is in full-swing and we're getting close to finding out who the final design team members will be. Here are the amazing finalists who are all so very talented:

as if it could get any better

Remember how I was stunned to be chosen as part of the new American Crafts design team?

Well, I'm speechless once again.

Look what was just posted:

http://lilybeedesign.blogspot.com/2010/08/guest-designer-contest-winners.html

Yes, ME, little ol' me, was chosen along with the fabulous Kim Watson, to be one of Lily Bee's upcoming guest designers. I am so in shock. What a fun thing to get to do and I am so excited!! The above collection was one of my favorites from this past CHA.

Thanks to my friend, LG Belarmino for posting about this in the forum at My Scrapbook Nook because I hadn't seen it yet and didn't think I'd be chosen. Thanks to Leah for putting together such an awesome July kit from which I made those projects.

WOW!!!!

a card for Jillibean Soup

I know...I say it again and again but I really do like the new Monster Stew line from Jillibean Soup. The paper with the frames is SO perfect for cardmaking! And, you know I LOVE those cute little monsters ♥

Here's a card that I made that's up on the Jillibean blog today:

I used the Monster Stew collection along with some black Soup Staples and alpha stickers and some black twine. Foam adhesive from Helmar.

Have a happy scrappy day.

good Saturday morning and a p.s. for Stuck?! Sketches

Good morning to you and happy Saturday!

I got some fun news by email the other day and while I am still surprised and a bit stunned I am so excited and can't wait to start playing with all of the new products. I must admit that I am feeling so very out of my league with the fantastically talented ladies who are on that team with me but I will do my best and just have fun with it. It's a dream come true for me, something I've tried for 3 or 4 times now so it's hard to believe that I actually made the team. http://americancrafts.typepad.com/studio/2010/08/announcing-the-20102011-american-crafts-contributing-design-team.html
