quick card today

Good morning!

We have a bit of a crazy week ahead of us- speech therapy follow-up for one, dentist appointments x2 and Hailey's birthday, gymnastics x2, open house for the new gym the girls are going to go to, birthday party, possibly soccer practice x2 plus all of the regular running around.

Hailey wants to get her ears pierced for her birthday so we're going to do that as well. How old were your girls when they got their ears pierced? We've had her wait a bit and now I think she'll do okay.

I want to fit in some scrappy time but we'll see. It seems that most of the time when I FIND time to get into my craft room the girls need help with something for one of their projects and everyone ends up getting something done except for me. I read a quote the other day, though, that said something to the effect of "when in doubt, choose the kids" and I am trying to do that more these days. I have been staying up late to get any kind of scrapping time lately so that I can enjoy my time with the girls before they head back to school next week.

Here is a quick card for you today; nothing fancy but I think it turned out cute.

This is some older Sassafras, rub-on from Pebbles and the butterfly punch is from EK Success.
I am so into the pink and aqua thing these days.

I have to thank you for visiting my blog. It makes me so happy to read your comments.

Have a good one!

I was searching for my GF's blog and came across your interesting post asking other moms when they had their dd's ears pierced. When I read it, it reminded me of a situation with my 3 girls, one aged4, 2.5 and the other 10 mos. When our ODD wanted her ears pierced, we agreed and she did great except for a few tears as expected. What I didn't anticipate happened.

Our oldest Missy, wanted to know why her middle and baby sister couldn't have earrings too. I tried to explain to her they weren't old enough.

Fast forward to their baby cousin's visit! Their baby girl cousin, aged 6 mos showed up for a visit with cute little gold balls in each ear! Again, Missy wanted to know why their baby cousin had earrings and her sisters didn't.

My SIL said it was something she had wanted to do since birth and her dd did very well and they were easy to care for. I was unsure about doing our toddler girl, but her sister wanted it done and soon dh was asking why I didn't go ahead and have both her sisters ears pierced including the 13 mos old with matching earrings ;)

I asked our ped about having our YDD's ears pierced. She said, it have become more popular to pierce newborns, infants and little girls ears because is safer with the newer ear piercing instruments than the traditional methods of using a needle, thread by the mother or grandmother.

I asked her advice and she encouraged me to go ahead and pierce both other girls ears since she showed me a picture of her 8 mo dd with little pearl earrings! I was surprised at her response and told her I would think about it. Her reasoning was when mommy cared for them, there was never any problems during the healing time, but when little girls wanted them, they often failed to care for them properly.

I was still uncertain until she gave me some suggestions for moms having their dd's ears pierced. I put them away and thought it would be years before I needed to read them. Dh and older sis were quiet on the subject. I thought I had made my mind up to wait till she was older.

Wrong. I started seeing other little babies including two in my playgroup and realized how cute our little toddler would look with cute earrings and yielded to pressure from my 4 yr and dh.

Beckyjune, I don't know if you'd considered having your younger dd's ears pierced now, but after I did, my ODD was so proud her sisters earrings. It was so much easier than my ODD having it done. She was clueless, cried for 10 seconds. Needless, both other girls looked adorable in their pics with little pierced ears and never had problems.

I'd say if you've remotely thought about it, then your mommy intuition is telling now is better and I'd do all the girls now.

Write me an e-mail for our ped's tips if you'd like.
